Internet privilege is going about your social justice, ignoring one of the biggest “isms” of all: classism. Those most profoundly affected are too busy working three jobs in order to feed their family to have the time…
Social justice is like the community of Puritan Boston in The Scarlet Letter.
Did you even read the post, or did you just see “AMG SOCIAL JUSTIS MUST BASH”? Because what I said was, in my opinion, a really relevant reflection on the problems with the SJ community on Tumblr that often are disregarded.
No, I saw the post and thought “You know fuck it I give up, but one last message before I make my failed attempt at leaving the world of social justice warriors.”
And as far as I can see, no one is pointing out how hypocritical ALL OF IT is. It’s gotten to the point that I can just envision someone getting all huffy and “triggered” over people existing because it’s offensive towards those who view themselves as non-existant.
Is there a group of people who view themselves as non-existant and demand recognition for it? No clue, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
So I’m just done, however, I can’t escape the ever-watchful eye of an SJW, who’s ready to pounce on something that barely even hints at some sort of offense. this is why I’m worried about my story going up because it actually has numerous issues practically personified and there for your entertainment (which also seems to be a social injustice as of late).
Nice job. A group that’s generally against censorship has me paranoid of censorship from them. Real smooth. the “everyone is equal” group… pff. More like “everyone is equal, but so help me if you say a single offensive thing, even if it’s accidental, we will make sure you are never not on a social blacklist blog. What’s forgiveness? Take it away, it triggers me!”
You should really read the post then.
If anything, it’s me calling out the hypocrites in the LGBT+ and POC communities for ignoring classism.
And honestly, if your writing contains triggers, you just put a TW on it and you’re good. If a character is homophobic, tag it as homophobia to warn the reader, and just say that the characters’ views aren’t your own or what have you. Most people would be ok with that, and if they’re not, then they’re too uptight even for me.
And honestly, I think that the identity politics of this site have gotten a little silly myself. I’m not such an extremist. I don’t think that we should just be “ok” with accepting that somebody has Twilight Sparkle in their head when clearly they are suffering from delusions.
Actually I’m not reading it because from what I’ve seen, the point you are missing, the conclusion is such: Everyone involved is a hypocrite and there is no exception. This includes you, me, and the assholes who are tearing their lawn up next door to me.
Also, I mentioned blacklist blogs, which I’m not sure if that’s already a term for something, but it serves the purpose I have for it. these are blogs that find posts from people and, basically, bring them up with the intention of not only calling them out, but possibly directing the anger of others towards them (making them look like a pariah to the community, blacklisting them). These blogs exist for the sole purpose of calling people out, nothing more. Sound familiar? Of course, thisisnotocd actually has an appropriate purpose, and on rare occasion teaches something, but I still see it as a blacklist blog.
The characters are another thing I’ll consider sending to you.
